The second day we were home, it was time for our first family outing. We were lucky enough to get to go meet our pediatrician, Dr. Griffin, for the first time. We had to go get Zachary all checked out and make sure that he was gaining weight as he should be. It was very nice at our first doctors appointment as it was mainly a meet and greet with Dr. Griffin. We were able to talk to him about our concerns and all our questions we had. Dr. Griffin was awesome. He was very gently and soft spoken and very easy to talk to. Because of course, me being a first time mom had lots of questions for him. Our main questions revolved around Zachary's vaccines. Ben and I had some major concerns and questions that we wanted addressed. Especially, with Zachary being early and so small we didn't want to take any risks with our little Angel. Dr. Griffin was able to help put my mind to ease a bit and gave us some literature and websites to look up between now and our next doctors appointment. Dr. Griffin was willing to do whatever we felt comfortable with and didn't pressure us at all. He gave us lots to think about before our next doctors appointment.
We were so happy when the nurses weighed Zachary....he was up to 5lbs 3oz. I know it doesn't seem like much, but when we left the hospital he only weighed 4lbs 14oz., so we ecstatic with the weight gain. We were worried that if hadn't gained weight he would have to go back to the hospital. Obviously, Zachary was doing very well with eating. That has never been a problem for my little guy, as when he was born, he latched on within about 5 minutes of being born. Hasn't had a problem since.
